I'm actually impressed, I too like simple without a bunch of clutter around the fields.

Very nice and I hope it is the final design. I'm affraid to ask what the other side looks like which might ruin this momentous occasion.

The BSA is a great character building organization. Leaders in the organization have a tremendous responsibility to protect the children in their care. Perhaps things aren't always perfect...and there's certainly room for improvement, but on whole, the BSA does an awful lot of good and is worthy of our support. $10 a coin will help send a lot of kids to summer camp that may not ordinarily have that opportunity.

Now let's get back to coins...:D

Regardless of the design, I will have one for myself and for my son if not a few extra ones. I went through scouting and had a great time as a kid and now my son is going through scouting.

Nice looking coin, that's all I will say about this as I feel the BSA is a great organization.

The commemorative is nice; I'll buy two. I wish they had not used the current stylized logo, but used the full schmmer, with the scroll at the bottom that says "Be Prepared." I think it looks nicer.

Politically, I'm getting tired of the witchhunts against people who hold differing views. I used to vote for a senator whom I disagreed with about 20% of the time (that much!) but I felt overall he did a great job. If you disagree with this one part of the BSA, you must remember all the rest that's positive that you wholeheartedly endorse. In my book, the organization has it right.

If I never see it again it will be too soon.

Now you may certainly like what you like and there is nothing wrong with that at all - I support your right to love what you love.
But to me this coin is about as forgettable as most of the modern mint products. It doesn't even look like a coin it looks like a badge or medal or something. Plus our Govt. should not be supporting them until they can open the doors to all.

    Girls?

Scouting used to be run at a more local level. What happened in the Troop, Stayed with the Troop.:high5:

We learned to be a team. They even provided me with my 1st paycheck back when I worked at the local Summer Camp.

Now we find we must regroup (I'm talking 50, 60, 70 & even a few 80 year olds!!!) to fight the "Local Council" just to keep the camp open and provide an "Outdoor environment" to learn skills.....such as......Fight to retain your Rights to not cowtow and options not to be just Street Savy.

When we said "Don't Tread On Me!", we used real snakes.

I Like the design & hope to acquire one.

If it supports the option of Liberty, as it purports, So be it.

yeah, it looks 'off' to me...I understand all things must not be symetrical but this doesnt look very good, I would rather see it centered. Otherwise, nice simple design.

    Off?

Back in my years in the BSA I acquired many skills and still feel privileged to have had the chance.

I learned the difference between a Democracy and a Republic, which means I try to protect and defend the rights of people with whom I don't agree.

I think the design is on the mark and look forward to getting one.

Of course, it was also during these years I learned to drink & smoke when we used our skills to sneak out of camp to chase girls.

I may have to get two of these comms! What is on the reverse? :pencil:

I agree. They could have done a much nicer job with the traditional design. This one looks like they threw it together in a hurry and didn't have time to finish it.

    What's on the reverse?

The Mint went so PC on this coin. I am so glad I will not be purchasing it.

Why not just put a whole bunch of different ethnic people and genders on the coins for the next ten years dressed in different clothing according to what will be commemorated?

By this thinking, the Girl Scouts discriminate against boys. In fact, the many things which are "women only" - and they are many - discriminate against men.

Get real, people - all sorts of private groups have only the sort of people which fit the charter of that group. That's not discrimination - and if it is, then every single human being is being discriminated against by someone.

Drop the victimhood and move on. Buy the coin or don't.

You're encouraged me to buy as many as I can.

Well apparently the Mint doesn't think the Boy Scouts are discriminatory against girls, they put on on the BOY SCOUTS coin!!! That's just a little too over the top for me. I can almost tolerate having a boys of different colors on the coin given how PC everything must be today, but a GIRL????? Sorry. I seriously doubt there will be a boy on the Girl Scout commemorative if that is ever issued.

I will buy this one, but this was the worst design of all of them. I'm disappointed if this is the one chosen.

I'll be buying one. I really like the reverse design.

I thought that the scouts had backed off on the ban on gays. That's a shame that they haven't, it would be the right thing to do. As for the religious end of it, well I was brought up as Roman Catholic and the only way you would know that is that I have just told you. Do you have to announce your religious views when you become a scout leader?
