......from the mint blog. 2009 Uncirculated Mint Set The release date for the 2009 Mint Set has just been posted as October 1, 2009. The preliminary price for the set is $27.95, an increase of $5 from the prior year. This set contains a total of 36 uncirculated (satin finish) coins from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. A notable highlight will be the 2009-P and 2009-D Lincoln Cents for each of the four designs. These coins will be struck in a special composition of 95% copper. The Mint Set has typically been released much earlier in the year (last year's release was July 30, 2008). This year, the US Mint delayed the release to resolve "unique tarnish issues" for the 95% copper Lincoln Cents.
Hello? have you heard when the Mint will start selling the Jefferson Nickel Mint-State coins? I have a 2009 Jefferson NGC cerified MS-65 with 6 steps,,,would that be considered a rare coin, considering the low pop in this date?
I actually think this set is a good value for the price. 36 coins ($14.38 face) ,the only way to get satin finish Lincolns, plus I'm sure they had to redesign the holders for the extra coins.
I agree that the price is fair. Many people will buy them just to break the lincolns out for resale. It will be interesting to see where the price goes after the mint sells out. Bill G
Well true they did increase it $5, but they also increased the number of coins in the set by eight coins.
