What make's you mad about people who do all sort of thing's to coin's but this has to be worst a tie pin or a cuff link If you have more coin's that the bad people can and will do coin's do please post Dave Ps hang them hi
That looks like a full LIBERTY. That is (was) a really nice coin. Now its a mediocre pin. I hate coins made into jewelry pieces, except rings, those are pretty cool.
I have started a butchered World Coin collection 1st I have a Tie Clip made of 1-50 Pennia and 2-25 Pennias from Finland (Late 1800's-Early 1900's) 2cd I have a cuff link made up of 2 Sweden 10 Ores from 1897. I hope everyone injoys:hail:
squashed souvenir coins, coin belts and coin toilet seats are pretty nasty deaths for coins but using gold coins as jewelry really saddens me.
Nope - does not make me mad. You bought the coin you can do with it as you please. Now it is a shame to ruin to some coins, but that is just the nature of things at time.
It only makes me mad if it's a key date. Why not enjoy common coins in jewelery. That said, sometimes the only way to get an affordable key date by purchasing a former Jewelery piece. If it was problem free I would never be able to afford it so things work out in funny ways.
sad That is very sad Think of the maker's of these coin's they would be turning in there grave to see that done to them Dave
Ok I agree they aren't key dates, I just thought you wanted examples of what has been done to coins. I am sure the maker's of these are just happy to see some one is looking at them still mwahaha!
It does drive me crazy but I really like love tokens. So we would never have them if it weren't for people like them. Bob
I seem to find more Barber coinage holed out than any other coin. Many times it's a XF or AU example too. It's sad because nice original mid to high grade Barber coinage is hard to find for some years. Alas I've done some intentional damage myself as a kid to some Lincoln cents with a dremel tool. Luckily I was just knowledgeable enough (old enough) that I knew what was common and what wasn't. So some common 1989 cents "went under the knife". I still have them... all marked up and bare zinc showing with my name well etched into them.
I have one that's been modified but I look at this one as a true work of art. In hand it looks old too, it's done on a 1933 peso from Mexico. I bought it off of ebay, the seller said someone in (prission) made it. I felt more sorry for the sellers spelling skills than anything to do with a person serving time in a prison. I keep it in my token collection.
I am wearing a coin as a necklace right now...Like someone here said already, its their coins, I might wish they hadn't but they can do as they please and they arent bad people. I wont lose any sleep if someone decides to make a ring out of a barber dollar...they are ugly anyway
wow How was that done It was a peace dollar ?? Dave I do agree it's your own coin's and can do what you like with them .but to fully destroy them?
