I picked up these coins at an auction yesterday. 1921, 1921s and 1889o Morgans. Any idea what has been done to the 1889o? It appears blue-gray in color and highly polished? I tried to catch the hue and polish in photos. Curious to your opinions. Thanks

My guess is it was polished then re-toned. :kewl:

I'd love to see better pics. :thumb:

Thanks Handsome! I'm relatively new at picking up coins-nothing that cost very much. Will try a few more pictures, though I don't have very high tech camera equipment either. :( I enjoy reading and learning from the posters here on CoinTalk.

Ok, try these pics handsome. Oh, GDJMSP, I'd let ya borrow the hat but I have to keep it with the bandie and vest. :)

I like the circ cam look on the reverse of the 1889O. Dark fields with white devices.

I agree about the color, but not if it has been polished and retoned.

Yep, it's too difficult tell what if anything has been done based on those photo's.

It just looks to me as someone shined it up nice and purdy!! Well at least it is still a Morgan, and still worth melt.

You could always use it as a pocket piece 'till it regains a little more natural look.

Yes retoned and I agree the hat is awsome and nice coins.

From the photos, it seems to reflect light like a polished coin, not a normal circulated coin.
