Would this not be considered Broad struck? On the obverse there is not any of the design missing, usually occurring with off center struck coins. The reverse is centered and complete.
Old coins that had the dates hand-punched into the dies can be quirky. This is not a bad thing at all. That is a lovely piece; not only a cool error, but it has nice surfaces as well. It is likely worth a couple hundred dollars at a minimum.
A misaligned die (MAD) maybe... as tibor said if it were an off-center both sides would have to be off-center. Sure is cool to look at.
This is a misaligned-die strike, not an off-center. At least three die varieties of 1853 large cents are quite common as misaligned strikes. And this is one of them. Examples of off-center and Broadstruck large cents are shown below.
