:hammer:I received my LP-3's in the mail today, the mint sure needs some lessons in their packaging dept.. I ordered these about 3 minutes after the first started selling, they always start out being shipped fedex and end up comming in the USPS. When I received the one end was opened and the other end barley holding together. They packaged upside down with one strip of tape, the bow looked like it had been through a war zone. Just wondering if you folks receive packages form the mint in this condition. Lucky for me the LP-3 boxes in side appear allright but with out opening who knows what the rolls are like.

When I got my silver proof set they were in a large box like that with all kinds of extra stuffing in the box. Seemed like a waste to me. although I think taping held up a little better than yours.

Wow , I just can't keep wondering if those LP-3 rolls bounced around a lot & you got to wonder if someone along the way sliced open the box Geeezzzzzz I really don't want to open them up, well maybe just one:confused:

Most of the packing I have ever had has been good but because they go to my P.O. box they usually ship registered and use that brown gum tape which is darn strong.

I think the registered thing happens on orders that would normally go fedex or UPS. Since they don't deliver to P.O. box it goes registered. I'm not sure what would happen on items that would normally go USPS to homes.

What I can't figure out is why they ship fedex from back east and takes a week to get here & then when it gets to the west coast it comes in the Mail:confused:

Ever since they hired the new shipping company things have been screwy. At least they fixed the issue of not requiring a signature on high valued items. People were ordering gold and it was just being left on the door step.

Yes, I got an order in a large box like that but the box itself was in good shape, so was the 2009 proof set. My 2008 Silver Eagle with the president coins, I forget what the name of that set is, has two spotted dollars.

Sometimes the mint is a real piece of work. I only realized one dollar was spotted until it was already too late to return anyways then I realized a second dollar had a couple spots as well. A bit frustrating, but next year I will be ready to inspect with a loupe, the day it arrives. :D

Heck, I buy maybe 1/2 of all my coins from overseas. You should see what US Customs does to many of my packages. They used to just use a boroscope to look inside the packages. Nowadays, they just cut the end off and re-tape. Screw the Patriot Act, quit spying on us. They forget, we do not work for them, but them for us. Guess the mint with its lousy quality control and shabby packaging is no exception. :desk: Traci

Last year, when the mint changed the fulfillment company, I actually received a duplicate or 2nd set of my order. I was not charged twice.

I called the mint and let them know I received the duplicate and was told that it was not possible that they double shipped my order. Here I am with 2 identical boxes shipped a few minutes apart. I didn't want to be dishonest and I didn't want a 2nd charge to my card.

I am not surprised that there are still some bugs in the shipping department.

I know somebody that is related to a postal carrier that knows quite a bit about how the post office works. He says that there is a UPS shipping method that involves UPS just getting the package to the town or nearest town to a route and they dump it off at the post office. Then the post office is responsible for delivering it. It supposedly saves money since the driver can drop off a bunch of packages at a post office and the USPS is going to most all addresses the next day anyway.

I wonder what the mint would of done if that had been a box of gold coins:confused::whistle:

No wonder my shipments takes so long to get here, the only fast shipment was last year when I ordered the Bald Eagle set ,first class all the way, but had to return because of the condition of the coins , they were dirty, had to reorder but the second set was worse with human hairs under the plastic holders :eek:dd::hammer: , you had to see it to believe it:goofer:
