Curious about this one. I just got this one at what I think to be a super price. Is ICG more forgiving on there grading? I got this for $28;);) Please let me know what you think. The only flaw I see on the obv. is the one just in front of Abe's nose. Is this really worth $400-500??
    Thanks,
    Mark

Not a chance at PCGS or NGC on the 67. The left wheat is problematic. To get a 67 ( easier at NGC ) a coin must scream luster, have a solid strike and be virtually mark free.

Yours is a nice coin, but nowhere near a 67. I can see this as a 65 due to beard hits and the rev.

So that being said, this is my first IGC coin that I've purchased. I would assume that I should stay away from them unless in hand purchase? I've always bought either PCGS or NGC and always been happy with them. Is this a concurrent grading of most IGC grading?

That is a correct assumption, only buy ICG if you can see it in hand first and you know the series well enough to know if it's what you want. Some do cross but it's not worth the chance. In your case I think you paid a little less that a 66RD would be in PCGS plastic.

I have a gang of ICG's that I dont even like diasplaying at coin shows. It happens. Take them in trade, etc etc.

I keep the ANACS, ICG, NNC etc etc in a back case and out of range that would disturb serious buyers, and not allow them to think I am a junk seller.

To me , they are Ebay blowout coins. If one deserves crossing, then I must consider the $$$ and the time to do so. To be honest? It is best just to avoid them .

Do note, when I walk a show and see cases of ICG and other offbrand slabs, I stop and look for rips, then quickly move on. Rips are available, but in most cases, it is not worth the time.
