That lister has done 2 thing against eBay's rules - he must show the front AND BACK of the coin and it must be shown IN ITS HOLDER. This is the eBay rule.

    Should someone report this?

Well, let's see. The seller won't accept returns so that really turns me off.....Also, the fact that I could probably pick up a complete '36 proof set for the price that this one coin is going for......

Strike that last statement. I just checked...

"The photos were taken by PAUL @ Commoncentsrarecoins.com awhile back prior to it being sent in for grading. While the photos do not do the coin justice,"

So did he send the coin to this guy to take sub par pics? Hey, I would have done the same for a nominal fee.

Maybe ebay allows these auctions, just to get people from CT to bid on the other auctions around them. I bid on like 5 items tonight.

Its a conspiracy I tell you!!!!!!!

Good for you he shouldn't get away with it and it's more then likely a scam anyways.

I reported it also (multiple reports help).

And there's no such thing as "NO RETURNS" on eBay.

I also reported it. very misleading.

It's not misleading if the coin is in a PCGS holder at the grade advertised. And it might be.

I don't like the way the seller has listed the coin. But I think some of you have gone overboard here - it might be a legitimate seller who isn't out to scam anyone.

    Overboard?
    Nope.
eBay's rules specify the slab MUST be show, both back and front, AND the coin MUST be shown in the slab.
It may not be a scam BUT it sure presents itself as one (at least that's how bidders should view it until proven differently).

Overboard with respect to calling it a scam.

    I agree with Mark.

On situations like this, it's better to message the seller and inform them of the rules so they can correct the listing to conform to Ebay rules and not to report it unless the seller refuses to correct the listing.

Now if you guys really want to see a scam, look at all the US gold this seller is selling:

    http://shop.ebay.co.uk/bifboy2009/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg

And the fact the pics are "borrowed" so the pics aren't of the coins being sold so there's a good chance the seller doesn't even have the coins and all of them are scams. :goofer:

The seller of the OP coin is most likely a honest seller who just doesn't know the rules. ;) I see no reason to think otherwise. :thumb:

I'm not sure when the last time one of the posters here clicked the link but the slab photos are there both front and reverse.

I agree with Mark, even with out the photos it's most likely not a scam and I think I would be fine with it even if technically he did not follow the rules which he now is doing.

Here is a quote from the listing. Apparently it was updated thin AM.

So it would seem he was not doing this intentionally and or caved under pressure from buyers or e-bay notification to him.

The slab pics weren't there when I replied earlier but now they are and it goes to prove that what Mark & I said earlier is true. :D

First off, before you go spewing off some random stuff after the fact that you had written to me and I had responded back, maybe we should make this clear:
    ------ cut
    Dear ohiohorseshoeman,

I will have a photo up tomorrow of this very coin in the slab. Sorry i have not gotten around to photographing the coin/slab yet. Please watch for photo update tomorrow morning CST.

    Thanks,

    Aaron J. Gelner

I did list it too soon and while I apologize for breaking the ebay rules oh dear ebay police [boy I hope one day you folks receive incentives for doing the police work involved on ebay], I was intent on posting the slab photos this morning which I did as I mentioned to the OP.

I am in no way going to defend myself or others and understand the concerns here, but I did block the OP because of the fact that he decided to go on here EVEN with my reply and making it seem as if I am below what my powerseller/feedback states. I am not a scam artist. And I am a very INACTIVE member here. So be careful of what you post about other people if you're not to include all the details.

Anyways, have a great day everybody regardless. No hard feelings!

    Aaron

I was not doing it intentionally. ;) Nor was I notified by ebay. It was my intent all along to post pictures as the original thread poster was aware of, but hey some people are all about the fuss in life... laugh! Thanks for having faith to those who did. ;) *PEACE*
