Check this out old fellow.... http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...ctId=14907&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=10111
About two months ago, I bought $300 worth of the Tyler rolls from the bank. Everyday I go in and out of a parking garage with an average cost of about $6-9 per day. That is a lot of spare cash that I need to carry around to pay the parking attendants. Then I got the idea to keep rolls of these in my car and kill two birds at one time. On one side, I can look through the rolls and look at each coin before I pay the attendant and on the other side, I feel like I am spreading knowledge. Very rarely do I get crazy looks, but those attendants that know me look for me to leave. One attendant even got into a fight with his wife about the coins because he was taking them home to give to him kids and she was taking them from the kids and buying her some smokes. Most of the attendants are trading them out for their own personal amusement. I never thought I could see my self as the person who gives out golden dollars, but I am.
I thought Elaine was refering to the Circulating $1 Coin Direct Ship Rolls of Polk not the $35 rolls of Polk.
His statement may read a bit smoother like this... Edited I tend to agree that these coins won't circulate much. Perhaps they would do better if they were smaller and there were some other, higher denomination coins to go with them...$5, $10, and $20. That's a pretty cleaver scam he has going on with his credit card, though. I wouldn't do it, but he makes a good point.
Presidential Dollar Coins Wait until the Lincoln, Kennedy, & Reagan dollar coins come out. You'll see the interest in these coins go way UP! Aren't we one of the only countries (industrialized) that still use the paper dollar bill? :kewl: (People will be scrambling to complete the sets that began in 2007... kind of like those who got on the state quarters wagon late. hmmmmm, how much are those 1999 Silver Proof sets going for right now? And the 2001 sets?)
the mint might as well lowering down again the mintage for prez dollar to about 20,000,000 per president. 10,000,000 for P and 10,000,000 for D mint mark. that will come out 100,000,000 pc a year. that include the sac dollar.
latest figure from the mint: 4 pc prez set - 590,234, include clad proof set and silver proof set - 1,970,547.
why some of the sac dollar dated 2002d came out in circulation?. did the mint release it out due to not sell out?.
So what is everyone's thoughts on the Polk rolls? Is it a buy or a pass? I missed the boat on the Harrison rolls but got two of the Tyler rolls.
