How nice is the watch? Really really like the knife, too. I really need to get a detector up here :(

Nice finds Paddy. I thought you got out today. It was nice but a bit on the cool side.

Wondering...have you noticed over time what depth generally reveals the best finds?

Nice finds that knife needs a new blade or are you going to keep it original.

The blade is rusted shut. I'm going to soak it for a long time to try to restore it. The 2nd picture I posted is an example from the internet.

Definitely. But in a few instances I have found Silver Coins in just a 2 or 3 inches deep. Depends on the type of soil it's buried in. But most of the time they are deep! 8 to 12 inches

Thanks. It was cold enough that my fingers froze!
I cut the hunt short because I promised my wife I would take her to IKEA :smug:

Not yet this year. I have to adjust my settings for lower tones. I'm a silver freak hunter so I only search for high tones.

Is the frostline ever an issue? I suspect that the past few years haven't been problematic. I was able to stick a plastic fork into the ground up until Christmas.

So what does a decent metal detector/detecting equipment go for on average, and what kind of stores carry such equipment...? Have always been interested but don't know much about it.

My sister loved IKEA. Before her death she was there once a week for something so I understand.
