In one of the coin fourms a thread was started about the plan for 2010...

I thought it was such a good Idea that I started one here...for Paper Money...

So what is your plan for 2010?

What notes are you wanting to add to your collection, what notes are you selling, what upgrades are you going to make?

For me..2010 will see a reduction in spending by at least 20-30K as my wife is starting to talk Beach House...LOL

Suppose I have to listen to that one!! Can you say family Jet Ski's??

    Regards,

that is a hard one. I'd like to finnish off my Hawaii, North Africa, and Gold Notes. I'd like to start back on my silver runs (Buffalo, Merc, Halfs). Add some more stars. hm, i have gotten a few common Indain head penny's. maybe add more of those too. i guess i really just collect whatever i have money for that i'm interested in. the other day it was 5's. hm. who knows where i will finnish at. i doubt i will ever. I would like to get some large size bills. i'm kinda falling for those now. just not the price. My girlfriend on the other hand, she just wants to keep adding to her foregin coins and paper.

I seem to do that alot RickieB... That's what I get for just clicking on the recent posts...

So for paper money in 2010 I'd like to find a nice mid grade Chicago $1000 for my collection... I've owned a low grade $500 note that was so brittle I thought it would fall apart if I messed with it much, but I need something I can hold in my hand!!

That is a great goal...the 1K Notes are really nice to say the least.
Now when you are ready...I know a great place to get just that...say the word and I will be happy to point you in the right direction....

Good notes , great pricing from a guy in the Atlantic Coast Region of the Country.

    schwabel....

I currently have aprox 30+ Large size notes and I agree the price of these are staggering....my last 4 additions were close to 20K.
They are beautiful and the engraving is simply delightful! I enjoy every aspect of them and read about them daily.

It can be a tough choice between Large Size Notes and any other part of your collection. While I do not add many notes in bulk, the ones I do add are top quality and I feel lucky to have them...

Always buy the best you can....and post images for us to see...

Well, I don't really collect paper, so I'll probably sell these two (the only ones I own). Low grade, I would guess not worth much... but since 2010 is my full retirement year, who knows what will happen. It would be nice to pickup that extra 25K in S.S. to invest in coins/paper while still working.

Do you realize that the $1 note you have is an Fr#38?? The Elliott/White sig's are the most scarce...there is even a Mule for the Fr#.

Look at the front plate number on the right middle area of the note...then look at the backplate #...if the back plate number is Larger than the front, it's a Mule.
The condition looks to be Fine to VF...but it's still a Fr#38.

I have my eye on one in CHCU64...

like i said before i am getting a $500. Next time i am home i am going to go look over closer. i'd like to get a nice $1 from 1918. i like the eagle on back.1896 silver certicatei love the 1918 Federal Reserve $2. The battleship looks beautiful on the back. Those are the big ones i am going to try and get for now.

Continue trying to finish the 1976 $2 Conventional and Cope printings (minus the stars) AU and up from circulation. I would also like to obtain at least one AU or better LG size $2 of a type I don't already have. Which one depends on what happens with my finances. If things go well, obtain a black eagle (AU and up) even though it is not a $2 LOL.
Just completed a goal I forgot about:Ordering The Engravers Line.

Thanks RickieB... I checked the Fr#38's on eBay and they range from $95 in VG to $299 in higher grades; at least I know what I have, but have no idea how to grade. I'll post a better picture at some point in the future. I don't want to call it a Fine if it's only a VG.

Mine is to continue working backwards on my Lincoln BU Red cent collection, all mint marks.
Im sitting right now with all from 1935 to date, all mint marks, all stored in air-tites, and now its time to start working backwards from there.
Looks like Im now entering big buck territory..hope the financial situation will accomodate it in 2010.

  17. My plan is to actually buy some! I have been unable to really pursue my currency collecting interests yet, but that will change in 2010.

Ideally I would like to add a Hawaii Emergency $1. I inherited a North Africa note, I want a Hawaii to go with it. Might even go for the higher denominations in the North Africa notes.

I would really like to get a large size note. I own two currently, one I inherited, a 1923 $1 Silver certificate, and the other is an 1860 State Bank of South Carolina Obsolete. Obsoletes are more in my price range (I paid $25 for the one I have) but Silver certificates are pushing it...and Nationals in large size are out of my price range...Nationals in small size are usually out of my price range, too for that matter...

NetJohn Mintage Nut & $1 Stars

Complete my star note print run collection for 1999, 2001, and 2006 series $1 ( I have completed the 2003 and 2003A by print run for $1).

    I'd also like a BP 129 1981A (and a 1985 if I can get one).

By the end of this year, I hope to have the series-set for $1 FRN stars, from 1963 to date. I only need a 69C, 77A, and 81 right now.
