The token is too small to be a dime. Add another dime between it and the cent. The dime is 17.91 mm vs, 19.05 mm for the cent. I admire the entrepreneur who created this token. Nice find.

  4. Thank u I will do that.

  5. Thank u I too thought it was pretty neat and interesting

The regulars on the forum answer these questions over and over and are constantly berated for being honest with their expertise. I would say that overall, they are gentle with the public at large. As anyone in retails knows, however, this is not true of the public.

  7. Thank you

There is only one person who claimed that you were stupid, and you'll have to look into a mirror to figure that out.

And therein lies the catch Melissa. You have never seen a Mercury dime before so it's also likely you have never seen a true hub doubled doubled die. We really are not here to burst your bubble or be rude. It's best you go to www.doubleddie and read up on all of the possible coins that are true doubled dies and those that mimic the same but are not. The info on this site at the link I provided is free and an invaluable lesson. Have patience. It takes going through thousands of coins before you may find one. That is the thrill of the hunt.

As I always say, it's your collection so keep what you like. Ask the questions that you don't understand so you can learn and have fun doing it.

Well, first of all, Welcome to CT. It is really hard for the long time members here to deal with posters that "Know they are right." Your 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th posts say, "I know what I'm talking about and you are just rude," which isn't true. If you aren't willing to learn from some very experienced members, then don't post here.
Secondly, some members are simply morons and give false information. Your photo of a cent and undersized coin is NOT a real coin, nor is it silver. It is most likely from a novelty set of miniature coins like these:

The dime is a miniature, novelty item, not real. As far as doubling, real doubling is not always a doubled die. In fact there are likely millions of doubled coins for every one true doubled die, so every time you find a doubled coin odds are it is one of the more common forms of doubling.

How is that going to help. Every time you look in the mirror EVERYTHING is backwards :)

  19. For now on I'll just read just as I've always done, I more than likely wont post anymore. I understand that I'm not as educated as the majority of you however I was taught to ask questions bcuz if you dont how will u ever learn or know, I was also told no question is a dumb question and to always ask without fear of being made to feel dumb, however that hasnt been the case here. I understand some of u answer questions about the same things over and over again thing is no one is forcing u to do so, tho u maybe annoyed by a newcomer asking questions no one is making u respond or be arrogant nasty or rude, no one. Thank you to all whom was helpful and nice and made me feel comfortable asking, but this is the last post for me so good luck and happy coin hunting to all and stay safe, thanks for the experience.

I wish to apologize for any comment I have made which may have offended you and also for the other insensitive comments of some other members. I wish you would continue posting other coin questions, but if you choose not to, I understand. :)

  21. My father passed away not long ago suddenly while he was at work and I just recently made myself go through his things and I came across this old penny book and his collection, this is why I picked up the hobby was this beat up old penny book. I always watched him looking and going through his old Penny's but wasnt ever really intrested, I even would jokingly call him a nerd...he would laugh and tell me just wait till I find a real treasure then we'll see who's the nerd...lmao Anyway the more I looked the more intrested I got, me know little about coin collecting thought alot of them were interesting and next thing I knew I was sitting for hours in my dads chair with his headlamp on and magnifying glass glued to my face and buying rolls of pennies every chance I got and completely focused in on all these pennies but mainly bcuz it reminded me and made me think of my dad sitting there looking through them and now I'm totally obsessed...lol My dad was right it is actually fun and kinda like a treasure hunt. When I found cointalk I thought cool I'll go there and check it out, I'll admit I may have gotten a bit upset due to I felt like my dads collection was being insulated and got my feelings hurt, I do understand and I dont know much about this stuff but I want to learn I just dont want to be treated or made to feel stupid is all. Thank you for ur kind words and I'll give it another shot.
