Ok not knowing how to grade this series, I'm saying 63 because of the hit on the neck and the shield on the reverse.

    Nice coin BTW.

Is that a rub on the cheek? If so, AU58. If not, MS64.

slightly weak strike, looks like plenty of luster though, but with the weakness, hits on the face and the small scratches I can't see it going higher than 64.

    Hmm........

The hit on the shield and the hit on the cheek should keep it out of 65 territory, so...

    a post liquid lunch..

    MS-65.

HAH, i just entered the number into my PCGS registry, and the value is a whopping $4.00...

THIS COIN IS GRADED GENUINE, ALTERED SERVICE

altered surface?? what a cop out by PCGS... they are so picky lately... either call it cleaned or grade the coin. I'd crack it, stick it in an album and let that sucker tone for a few years... as long as there aren't hairlines that can't be seen in the photo will likely be a pretty 64 after awhile.

I was going to say altered surfaces (hairlines), but reading the posts, I guess there's no need.

leadfoot do you think i should crack it and consign it to an auction? and what dores everyone think i gould get out of this raw in a paper holder.

I don't think hairlines would cause an altered surfaces grade.

To make this thread more educational can someone point out why this might have gotten the altered surfaces grade?

With those photos, I think this coin could easily have been lightly whizzed and we wouldn't notice. A better photo would most likely show the true surface of the coin.
