My 7-year-old daughter really loves the "Coin Collecting for Kids" book, and she is enjoying the hobby. She finished the 20th Century portion of the book as we found a Franklin half last weekend to finish it up. She has also collected Lincoln cents from 1941 to today, and is trying to snag 2009 cents, although it has been a struggle. This has been a wonderful experience for the both of us. However, to follow her big sister, now my four year old wants to collect cents or"pennies" as she enthusiastically calls them. I got her a Whitman "Cents" album to start pushing in any pretty pennies she finds.
Just take the kids to shows and keep putting coins in their hands. They may never become coin collectors but they'll never forget the educational experience. Ruben
Glad to see you are learning the correct language from your kids. PENNIES. For some reason there are those that call them CENTS. Silly people. Did you purchase her an Album or a folder. Just curious. Albums are better for kids since they can see both sides of the coins. Congradulations on having the future of coin collecting.
Wow you guys, that's just great. Regardless if they become true collectors some day or not, what your doing for you kids beats them playing grand theft auto on xbox all day. I certainly hope to get my young one into it some when she is a little older. I think it teaches not only the value of money but some history as well, and of course looking at you pics you are making it a good wholesome family affair.
