Have you ever went to a coin show, spent some time, and walked out without buying anything?
I have some specific coins in my mind (mostly ancients and crown silvers), but I think if either those coins are not there in the case of ancients or they have overpriced crown silvers, I’m just gonna come out hopefully resisting my urge to splurge on other junks!

    Nope, not yet anyways.

All of the shows I've been to have been 250+ dealers so normally I am able to find something I want at a good price. Hopefully you find whatever you're looking for.

No, but I've also never gone only looking for a couple specific things. I feel like if I couldn't find anything in the whole show it's probably not a show worth going back to.

I have to say I live in a small city, and the shows are mostly focused on bullion, special issue coins, banknotes and stamps, they have around 40 tables, and only one or two specialize in ancients.

That's understandable then, many of my shows are out of state but I live in GA where many of our shows are major. I see you're in Australia, are there any major coin shows there?

    I think maybe once.
And it was a Baltimore Whitman show (several hundred dealers).
But that was 5-10 years ago.

okbustchaser I may be old but I still appreciate a pretty bust Supporter

Went to a small (maybe 25 dealers) local show last weekend. Didn't see anything I was even interested in asking to take a closer look. Warmed over stuff from the same show in January.

I live in the west coast, and the nearest city is 1700 miles away! most major shows happen in the Eastern cities like Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane, and travelling across the country for coins worth a couple hundreds is not feasible!

I used to live in North Florida, so I wasn't that far from several large shows such as FUN, Jacksonville, or Perry. However, since moving to Tennesee, my only large-show opportunities are the BRNA show in Dalton or the TSNS show in Chattanooga. Nashville, on the other hand, surprisingly, doesn't have many large coin shows except for a few smaller ones in the surrounding suburbs.

Will you be going to the GNA show in Dalton on April 16-18 this year? I usually go to BRNA as I live in GA. Would be awesome if we could meet up!

Unfortunately, I doubt I'll be able to attend the GNA in April due to school and work commitments, but I wouldn't mind meeting with you at an area coin show sometime in the future.

Edit: You might want to consider the TSNS show as well. It's only 30 miles north of Dalton.

Dang, I'm making plans to go to the '22 Winter FUN show and BRNA in August. Not sure if I could make it to TSNS, really would depend on how I'm doing at that time. Will you be going in November?

I'll have to see, but I can't make any guarantees as of now. My parents probably wouldn't let me go by myself since I don't have much experience driving on interstates. Plus, my dad is 100% disabled, so he can't drive, which means my transportation options are quite limited.

Edit: I'll send you a PM if I can attend any of the shows mentioned above.

Yup. If I can't find what I want, I'm not going to spend my money on a consolation coin.

Well, I usually don't leave with NOTHING...

Usually, it makes me turn into a junk bin addict.

Happens many times, usually with smaller local shows. But the larger regionals and the national shows -- it's tough to not find ANYTHING.

Plus, I usually have more $$$ for those shows. :D

Usually. The material I collect seldom shows up even at the major shows. (Or if it does it tends to be higher grade and I can't afford it.)
