the production of prez dollars keep going down. it also happen to all other denomination. even the gold and platinum series.
I just went thru one box each, John Adams and James Madison dollar rolls. All rolls in both box's were "D" mint-marked. The Adams dollars looked horrible and the strikes were weak. I kept 5pcs, all would grade MS65, but none higher. The Madison dollars were much better, most well struck. I kept about 10pcs, 1-MS68?, 3-MS67, 6-MS66. Wainting for another '09 SAC box to arrive, hoping for P rolls in this one. Might order another box of the ADAMS, maybe get a few in better quality. Jim
it looks like the mintage for prez dollars keep going south. never know which one will be the lowest.
direct ship Hey Crusher. How long did it take to receive your dollars? I have been waiting a month for mine. I tried going thru the dollars when they first came out and I was extremely disappointed with the condition. It looked like someone had dropped them out of a car window at 90mph onto concrete. I just gave up. I am going to try again, though. Found a really nice stereo microscope for $5 at a thrift store. :computer:
It took about a month or so. Dont know why it takes so long. But I received my 2nd box of 2009 Sac dollars. All "D" mint. They were horrible, did not save one coin out of 250 coins, amazing. The first box I got was so much better. Will order another box next week. Hoping for "P" mint rolls. The Sac dollars only took about 2-2.5 weeks to get. Jim
total 4 pc presidential dollar set (include prez set from sillver proof set and clad proof set). 2007 - 3,872,494 2008 - 3,040,720 2009 - 1,381,729
I had some extra presidential dollars that I felt like spending just for the heck of it, and nobody would accept them. The mint isn't going anywhere with these dollar coins until the paper bill is gone (I'm sure that's been said millions of times). I think these dollar coins are being somewhat overlooked possibly though. I'm only collecting the proofs through the proof sets, and building an album around the mint satin finish coins. I'm not a huge fan of the edge lettering, and now the near impossible to read obverse.
ugly ugly ugly, whole program is a waste of tax payer money, i keep buying from direct ship, eqarn points on my credit card and turn in coins at my bank who then ships them back to fed, what a stupid way to think they will go to circulate, coins are boring and the subject matter who cares about dead idiots
I love the strange looks I get when spending them. I like them, but agree they are getting no where with these as far as circulation goes... I spent some post 71 half dollars a couple days ago at Home Depot, and they looked at them very closely before accepting them. LOL. The cashier had never seen a half dollar before....wow!
there will be no limit on the coming james polk dollar mint roll set. and the mint will also offer free shipping and direct shipment to your house.
