C/J 0290800 Signatures look like Lawson and Bouery? I wouldn't say its in perfect condition but out of 10 I'd say its a 6 or 7. Dated 1954. Any rough ideas what it may be worth before I take it somewhere? Thanks Jenn
Unfortunately it is the modified porrait without the devils face, and therefor would get you around 110$ if you can find someone to buy it.
I would do the same thing if I had it, but if you are expecting the value to go up faster than the rate of inflation during your lifetime, you will probably be unhappy with the result. Fifty or so years ago when the note was issued, it would buy around 3 ounces of pure gold, or allow you and 100 of your closest friends to see a double feature at the theater, along with popcorn and a Coke. Today, it's collector value will buy 1/10 ounce of gold, or allow you to take 6 friends to the movies with refreshments. Fifty years from now, it will probably buy an ounce of silver or a single ticket to the movies without refreshments...
Okie dokie LOL got the point...but if I always get a $100 dollars for it when I turn it into the bank..Im out nothing by holding on to it. ;o) Thanks though for the information. *S* Jenn
I have plenty of pieces like this (just NOT this :smile) that I hang onto just because I like them, so enjoy it while it's yours!
i would say spend it on some notes that were in a little better condition. that one wont bring a premium.
