Your first pic, which is the reverse, needs to be turned 90 degrees.

It is a Fel Temp Reparatio type.

I cannot distinguish the legends, but I would go for Constantius Gallus (DN FL CL CONSTANTIVUS...). The ruler is also bare headed so this makes me think it's him.
If you can read the mintmark, possibly SMNA, it can be identified more precisely.

It may well be SMNA. It’s right on the edge, some wear

Someone might have beat me but I say its RIC 120, LBRC II 2040 Sears 19018 (has pic) 353-54AD
Obv: D N FL CL CONSTANTIVS NOB CAES
    bareheaded draped cuir right
    Rev: FEL TEMP REPARATIO
    Soldier stabbing horseman.
    Mint mark S M N
    Officina 1-6
Ref I used: Late roman bronze coinage an attributions guide for poorly preserved coins, RIC, and sears.
I use all books so it took me a bit. Please correct if needed but I think thats it.

Great! I told my wife that the folks on the Ancients forum would have some great info.
Now I’ll go slink back to the Error Coins

Goodluck hunting!! Alway happy to help. I went a little out of control last year and bought to many unclean lots from all over Europe and Middle East mostly ants and AE3/4s and a lot of 4th century. So I have spent a lot of time with fel temp reparatio lately. Happened to have those books out. :cat:

Well, perhaps the temptation is not big enough yet.
I had a similar experience back in 2015, I got two 4th century bronzes, one being a FTR. I was explained what they are, I was like "cool, but nevermind"
After 5 years the fever started, hopefully it will be sooner for @Heavymetal :)

RIC VIII Nicomedia 120 is a Julian II coin with bull reverse. The Sear reference is for a Constantinople coin. There is also no real reason to use the Bruck book, since this coin is easily identified.

oh man, so sorry Sears 19019 vol 5 pg 266 (2000ed), RIC Viii 97 nicomedia the description is right i was looking one entry above when writing id #. Good looking out ty. Did a 18hr shift yesterday wasn't on point. :cat: The bruck ref is just a habit of mine but something I try to encourage to people new to 4th century since its such a great resource. I am old school and like books but thats just me. Ty again for noticing never intend to pass misinformation.

You seem clear on what this coin is. Could you PM me with some idea of the value. And the proper description if I sell it

I'm not Victor but mine was $2 on eBay in 2006. I'd say it would be worth 5 times that now (it was a bargain then). Is your nicer? Fact: Low grade ancient coins are not the way to get rich. They are worth more as 'interesting' than they are in $$$$.
