Having trouble finding a value for this coin. It appears there are a couple VF-XF coins on eBay listed for around $400, but no sales. Then there’s the World Coin Price Guide value that says it is worth like $2600 (if memory serves) in MS60. And there a single raw coin sale on Heritage of this coin at $1380 back in 2007.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Gorgeous coin, but remember, Italian material never sells for anything close to book. This coin is rare in that grade, and especially problem-free, but realistically I think that we'd be looking at around the $1600-1800 mark at auction today - and that includes COVID tax...

@C-B-D That is coin PORN my friend, and these are sleepers... I am still waiting until these reach the price points they should be achieving considering that they are Crown-size, silver, and RARE.

It is gorgeous for sure. I bought it from my local coin shop without knowing much about it, other than what I stated above. Had to have it.

My recommendation is hold on to it... It is a rough ride finding an example that nice.

Sorry to come back on this, but god, that cobalt, russet and ochre toning... this is, in terms of eye appeal, the best example of this type that I have seen... Really nice... Ok, I'll stop gushing now...

NGC pop report says there are only 2 finer, but yeah, that aside, the eye appeal is aces!

Beautiful coin with nice toning. Low mintage of only 73,840. Coin was minted in Torino and that's why they say Eagle on the Slab. The Eagle head mint-mark on the reverse was used by the Torino mint. If you see an Anchor there instead it would be the mint-mark of the Genova mint. Silver coins in that era were not minted on the island of Sardinia.

right on the mark for mintage and Gigante 2021 has this in SPL at 1500 euro would sell at auction around 1000 to 1300 dollars. Only because it's rarer and the Torino mint. If you dont mind me asking what did you pay?

That coin is on currently on American eBay with a buy it now price of $2500. with $20. for shipping. That's a big price for an Italian coin in this country. How many Americans are collecting that coin ?? and how many are willing to pay that price ;)

I am one of the few who do collect these coins and if I pulled the trigger and bought it I would pay $2500. for the coin $250. for tax, and $20. for shipping. $2770. out the door for that coin.

My coin is not listed for $2500. I put it up there as a best offer. Are you saying that you think it is overpriced? If so that's why there's a Make An Offer button, right?

Staying out of the pricing question, @serafino, there are plenty of collectors in NA who collect Italian coins... in Canada (a smaller market than the USA), I had at least a half a dozen clients who specialized in Italy (and I am not a big dealer). Also, there are many Crown-size silver coin collectors who would be interested in this piece.

I was just looking at capped bust halves on eBay. I look Dailey but rarely buy from there. Of the next 50 coins ending (all within 3 hrs) only 1 had bids and appeared it will sell.

Capped busts are extremely popular right now........... but people ain't stupid.
