Just paid $30 for a 1921 P Morgan dollar which is 50% more than I would normally pay, but I actually like the buy. Posting the best pictures I can get from my truck in the bank parking lot. Thanks for looking.
Display reverse up. After all, if you glance longer than a moment, even the Eagle looks pizzed about the buy. It grows on you. I look at it this way....if a person found it with a metal detector in that condition, the person would be ecstatic at the find. The joy and excitement would certainly be worth $30.00. So, what you have accomplished saved you the cost of a metal detector for an equal amount of joy.
Looks to me like someone was experimenting with toning methods. I once baked one in a potato and it came out kind of like this one.
i think the obverse would benefit a very careful cleaning. Nothing big but rather just around the stars, etc. Looks to me like it would come off very easily. or just throw it in the 7070 and forget it!
I believe that is a tape mark across the obverse and it was taped into a folder or some sort. I think the toning is natural. one other piece that doesn’t come through in the pic’s is the reverse is 100% mirror like in the fields. The device’s aren’t frosted but that reverse is as nice as I’ve ever seen in ha d.
need butter and sour cream but 25 dollars worth of silver for 30 nice reverse.. silver fell a tad now..
