I bought what I thought were two genuine Morgan Silver Dollars from a seller on Ebay.
Well they arrived today. They don't look normal and they failed many tests of genuine dollars, especially obvious is the weight of these coins.
I have attached photos of the supposed 1895 S Dollar. The Grams are way under at 22.6 and the grains are also way under at 348.
I have contacted Ebay and I was told to return them for a full refund. But I'm concerned about others. This seller has sold a number of these dollars and he currently has 13 active Morgan Dollar listings with bids on them. The seller has told me that he bought these online from a website called wewinns,(I went on the site and they sell fakes), yet he has not shut down his active listings with more of these coins.

Here is a link to the sellers fakes:

Beware of these fakes. I told Ebay about the problem, but I don't know how to get his listings taken down. I'm trying to warn others about these coins.

Hopefully, other buyers will be as astute as you and return them on his dime. I saw two negative feedbacks warning others about these counterfeits. I assumed they're yours but then I thought eBay makes you wait 7 days before leaving a negative feedback?

I'm sorry. I'm an eBay bargain-hunter too, but...

You paid $12.98 for an 1895-S Morgan dollar. What did you EXPECT to get?

Edit: OP did not buy his for $12.98, but somebody did.

    Hi Jeff,
I paid a LOT more than $12.95. I'm not sure why you thought I only paid that much. I had made an offer and he accepted it. As you can see on his listings he has many of these coins bid up to normal Morgan Dollar prices, but these buyers don't know they are bidding on fake coins. That is why I'm trying to warn others about this seller.

you can post feedback weather negative or positive as soon as you buy the item or before it arrives even I've seen that before.

Ah, my mistake. I looked at his completed listings, and saw that he had sold one earlier for $6.99 + $5.99 shipping.

Contacted the seller, reported to eBay, and the coins are coming down.

Looks like ended all his auctions. I don't think he intentionally sold fakes....I think he was probably duped too. Looks like he is new to selling....all of his other feed back looks like it was as a buyer.

    Thank you so much!!!
I explained it to the seller in multiple messages through Ebay and I told Ebay about it and he did not take them down. I really appreciate your help as I don't want to see anyone else end up with these fakes.

One does not simply buy a 95-S Morgan dollar or any key-date Morgan that lacks TPG certification and expects it to be real.

I mean no offense at finding this amusing, I'm glad you got your money back as is only fair but - probably 5-7 years ago I bought a bunch of raw Morgans, nothing fancy, back then I wasn't weighing them and I don't have great eyes for this stuff, anyway, I resold most of the bunch a couple years later and the guy I sold them to was better than me and one was a fake! I sold a fake Morgan!!!! I don't think the guy who sold them to me knew, and I didn't know - the weight was wrong, but it was either silver or silver plated. Well I gave him a better one and I still have it (the fake) set aside. Nonetheless, I suppose I'm fortunate I didn't wind up on the naughty list for that. The lesson I learned was to weigh raw coins and check them with a magnet.

That's too bad, that said you may want to only buy slabbed Morgans until you get better at identifying them. Looks like ebay removed coins from him at least, so you did well with taking him down! :cigar:

Key date Morgans are more valuable when certified by a top TPG than the cost of certification. Anyone selling raw key date Morgans are either morons or crooks...and I do my best to steer clear of both.

Note: With the internet, there are far more crooks than morons these days...(caveat emptor).

Today, many years later, are you able to spot the fake one you bought? Please post pic if/when you can.

I wonder if I could - it's in Michigan at my house there, I'm in Connecticut for a while now, but that would be fun, I'm curious now. I marked that one and a couple of fake bullion pieces I have for future reference - fake Australian great white shark 1/2 ounce, and another one.

For $13.00 it would fill a empty hole in my Morgan album. Knowing it's a fake but still look cool in the book. I'm afraid that slot will be always open!
