pushing the "limits" with this one at $28 but not an easy date to find in that price range 1808 sellers bad pics My cheap price hehe
Ohhhh, The Classic head. The one large I don't own . Hard to get in high grades on a budget . Nice find . At least a $45 coin assuming it's a ED coin ?
we'll see once it arrives.. pics look like a bit of corrosion maybe but I don't see signs of Verdigris... if it seems cruddy will possibley boil...
Never herd of the "boil"method . How does that work ? Is it served over pasta ? No seriously , how does it work ?
Well I hear if you throw it in boiling water it will just hop out, however if you put it in tepid water and slowly raise it to a boil it will remain and cook. Then from there it’s just matter of how you want to serve it, they say they taste like chicken.
The former. It’s payback time for all the horsing around these guys do. Mostly I’ll admit it’s all in good fun. But just think if you were a horse, how would you like it?
Nice classic head type my favorite 19th century cent design and as you said you stole it for that price.
Yes you have, but the wording might have thrown you off.. If a coin is "Dirty/cruddy" I will place it in a small unbleached muslin teabag and suspend it in a pot (not copper) of boiling distilled water.. This will usualy remove any oily residue or crud that may have accumulated on the coin over time.. It can however stip off the patina if that patina was formed around/over the crud so even this minor conservation I consider carefully with each coin.
My grandmother always "chopped" off the legs and threw em in the pot... why bother cooking the parts you won't eat hehe (sorry froggy but them legs is tasty eatin )
I just opened a cardboard box I'd put aside on my filing cabinet and, what a nice surprise! Among other things, it had two bags of large cents that I bought last year on auction - all in relatively poor condition - for $32 I got 9 Coronets - an 1816, an 1816 counter-stamped, two 1819s, 2 1820s, an 1829 and an 1837. For $42 I got 3 Draped Bust cents - all holed or corroded - an 1800, an 1803 and a ?? From the same buyer on a third auction I got a holed 1821 quarter and a holed 1835 half dime for $36. I might have a look under the microscope at that last large Draped Bust Cent. Pics or it didn't happen! Can I be in the club now?
