Wow. How did they stay so nice after all these decades. Looking for that 1922 plain cent...

Yeah - that makes sense. Even if I were not into coins, I would still keep 'em since they're nicely preserved, vintage, and don't take up much space.

In high school, I worked summers at a Boy Scout camp in Winstead, CT. I worked mostly in the kitchen (asst. Chef), but would volunteer to work the Camp Store when needed. It was amazing how many rare coins I would find in the till! All in great condition.

These are from a box of 50 rolls.

I was working at a little restaurant on weekends and after school. The bonus was that when I got there, the 11AM drawer and the 2PM drawers were left in the office for me to reconcile. Had to be done so fresh drawers could be placed into the register at 5 and 8. In between boiling/peeling 50 lbs of potatoes, 25 lbs of bacon, sliced meats and cheeses, I'd go through the drawers. Many times someone was spending an old collection. Franklin halves, red $2 notes, Silver Certificates. I would go into work with around $40 just to cover what I was taking...all at face value.

I hope you washed your hands before handling the meat and produce. ;)

LOL...many paper bills smelled like onions on days I sliced and boiled those...or did you mean after counting the tills and then cooking? ;)

Best ever score at that restaurant: 4 rolls of solid silver. Heard the magical sound from behind the grill and claimed every silver quarter.
