I'll never love jeffersons, as much as I love my gold indians though, you can't change me that much!!! LOL

I am very surprised that nobody wanted to see this one. A stunning coin with dramatic rainbow toning. The obverse is so impressive that you almost forget to look at the mushy strike reverse.




An absolutely delicious Jefferson that certainly deserves a star. The obverse displays concentric bands of bright gold, cotton candy pink, periwinkle, lime green, yellow, pink, green, and tangerine. It reminds me of rainbow sherbert. The reverse is also pleasingly toned but in a much less remarkable way.

 

Lehigh, they are all so beautiful...
I think we want to see them all up close and personal, we just don't know which ones we want to see first

 

An update on my NGC registry collection. This is a very cool way to see which holes you have in your collection. It also allows you to see how well matched your coins are.



I know it is a little small on the screen, but still cool.

Still the coins look nice, even though the design isn't my favorite.

 

When I find an untoned coin with eye appeal or extreme rarity, I will buy it.

The 1943-S is interesting. It is in an older holder, but I pretty sure it would qualify for 5FS. The 1943-S IMO, is by far the most difficult war nickel to locate with rainbow toning. This one is extremely attractive even though it doesn't really compare to some of the other war nickels in my registry set.

 

Great looking coin and photos. Although I am not crazy about blue toning in general, it blends well here and this is a very attractive piece.

 

LOL Lehigh getting T money out of the closet with a toned Jefferson! Most people who have an problem with collecting Nickels are clueless as the to price tags on Jeffersons and nickels in general. I know everyone has their prefences as to what to collect . I posted an enamelled coin yesterday...I got all kinds of views in this forum as to how funny etc...but in the UK,Canada, Europe , and some here in the U.S.they bring a pretty penny! The thing I love most about Jefferson is the varieties, the tonning the range of colors .... I have a proof 1960 that is so ice Blue it's unreal! But at the end of it all I believe to each their own.... but don't knock someones choice as to what they collect. Like most coin dealers I have met at shows they may not be in the market to buy a coin you have to sell... most just say politely nice coin/ note I'm not in the market right now for your item. But T money does have a problem with Jeffersons....but again it's his choice.:smile

Lehigh Let me know what you are looking for as I have rolls of Jeffersons MS, Proofs Varieties toned etc.... I just put together a complete set for my great nephew who is now 7 MS & Proofs from 39 to date.

 

I would have no problem getting jefferson nickels, in fact if I got one that was graded and toned like anything in Lehigh's collection, I'd gladly add it to my type set
If I got one of them ugly $5 gold enamelled coins, I might throw up. LOL
I find the coin you showed, kinda offensive to the design, and the coin makes it look like the chief was all "colorful" and "fruity"

You should already know what I need, it is in post #24 in this thread. Any white areas with a date/mm are coins I need. This is a registry set so I need either NGC or PCGS MS67 or top pop MS66 and preferably rainbow toned.

Currently the only varieties I own are the 1943/2-P and two 1943-P DDO (Doubled Eye Variety).

 

The coin shows better from a distance that a close up. Like I said in my post I only purchased a few enamells in my years of collecting. And again sold all of them but this coin. but as ulgy as you think I could sell it tonight for $750 to a buyer in Ft. Lauderdale Fl. With no questions asked. I am not a lincoln penny collector I do have one started and never finished it. For as many years as I have been collecting coins I could have the best collection that money could buy. I sold 4 1955 DDO 2-0-ll+V rarer than the 1-0-l and one of them was the only ms 65 in RB ever graded! Again T money to each their own... don't go putting down a person choice of what they like to collect. IE to me collecting baseball cards is a joke but thats my opinon...but I have friends who love collecting sports cards... my view is that topps can print as many errors or a player card... etc...fact is in collecting coins or paper money there is only a certain amount of coins struck or notes printed. but to those who wish to collect sportscards if it makes them happy so be it!
