the top frame work of the monument, as well as the stairs are doubled. There is also a dropped letter “A” located over the initials “FG”.
The dropped letter may be hard to see in the photos, but it is certainly there. Looks as if it was hit at least twice.

What is this, a Rorschach test? You are seeing things, now, pal. And the longer you go, the worse you are going to get. We see it here all the time. Look at how convinced you are already before any of us even replied. That is not a good sign.

This coin has a few linear plating blisters and a marginally “floating roof.“ That is it. Forget the other things, they are but illusory.

This is 110% not a plating issue, and has absolutely nothing to do with blistering. I would absolutely agree with you, because I almost tossed in the the return cup. However, I took a closer look, and I’m glad I did.

Feel free to think I’m “seeing things”, but please remember, the coin is sitting in front of me. The coin was struck, then rotated and was struck again.

If the coin was struck twice, I would expect it to be a lot messier, as well as the front showing the double strike too. Which it doesn't to my eyes. A double strike would also cause all of the letters to be doubled too. If the coin rotated as much as your pictures indicate, then struck again......everything front and back would be messed up, not just the areas you point out. I would expect to see the whole building moved not just the stairs.
I'm not experienced enough to offer an opinion on your coin one way or another, but just commenting on what I see.
CT has some of the best coin collecting minds in the world as members, willing to help the new collectors learn and grow in the hobby. It is your personal choice weather to accept their input or not. If you choose not to believe what they say, the other option is to send the coin in for grading and attribution.

Ignorance, to me, is not a good sign. I’ve had my share of sly comments and jabs. However, one thing I will not let slide, is someone who not only belittles me, “you are seeing things now pal”, but then imply that I’m Hallucinating and making things up.

    as I may not be able to to decipher the difference between different styles of “doubling” with my whopping 4-weeks of coin hunting, I can decipher this;

    1) if you would direct your eyes to the left side of the cropped (made specially just to please you) photo, you will come across an angle of roughly, 40-50 degrees, yes? Okay good.

    2) now, if you direct your eyes to the far left side edge of the stairs, you should come upon a second angle of roughly 40-50 degrees, yes? Good! (Glad you’re following me. Don’t want you seeing things that aren’t there. Stay with me here, might get bumpy)

    3) now,.. hold on a second. things seem to be lining up... strange. Those long “PLATING ISSUES” that you referenced, look alarming similar to those other long plating issues, called stairs. Yes, those thin lines that I was magically making up in my head, while riding atop of my fairy-dust farting unicorn.

    4) at this point I would hope that I don’t have to point out the obvious “matching characteristics” of the angle we reviewed in step 2, and those magical thin lines, known as stairs, that we just reviewed.

If I’m still blowing smoke out of my hind parts, let me know. I’m going to take a quick intermission, while I edit the top half of the doubled image, to walk you through that as well. My unicorn needs to tinkle also.

    Next step,

if you look at the top frame work on the monument, you’ll see that it is intact grooved, with several lines.

Now, in the photos I cut out from the ones I posted, you can certainly see that the characteristics, spacing, etc., of those lines are remarkably similar.

As there certainly may be “some” plating issues or blistering, you’re certainly not going to get matching angles, and defined lines such as these.

Now, nowhere in my thread did I list it as a complete second stamp.

I’m fully aware, and would agree, that I would “expect” to see doubled everything. Why that’s not the case, is beyond me.

the resemblances are too close to be plating or blistering issues. The lengths of the secondary stairs and top trim, are just about the same as the original image.

I’m also aware that deciphering things through photos isn’t always the easiest, but I’m simply past my patience with the amount of ignorant adults on this forum who are so quick to crap on someone. It’s disgusting how some of the people on here literally think they are better than someone because they hold more knowledge about coins? Really?

I gave 9 years, and two tours to Afghanistan to the Army. I’ve been blown up 3 times, had a sniper smack a sandbag 12” from my face twice, magically walked away from ungodly indirect fire attacks, watched my friends die, watched their parents dissolve into nothing when I had to confront them, while also being asked, “why did you live, and not our son? That’s not fair.”

With that being said, do I act like I’m better than anyone? Do I go around belittling people as if I’m gods gift to the world? Absolutely not. Nobody owes me anything. But If I can help someone not make the same mistakes, Then I will help them. If I can teach, educate, and lead by example, then I most certainly will. There’s a right way to educate, and there’s a wrong way. If seen entirely too much of the wrong way on this forum.

But for grown adults to sit here and respond to threads in such an ignorant way, is absolutely absurd to me. So, if you don’t want an ignorant, smart-a$$ response, then I suggest that we don’t leave ignorant responses on a thread I posted.

As momma always said, “if you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all.”

I should print out the image and measure to be sure, but I did a crude measurement on screen. It appears that the distance (between stairs and top trim) in the tilted image is greater than that same distance in the original. I'll look at it again tomorrow morning.

Is this what you're referring to as a dropped letter?
    upload_2021-3-3_1-20-58.png
By the above statement I put in quotation marks, I see you're not following mamma's advice.
I've noticed on many of your posts you ask for advice and then proceed to tell everyone they're wrong and you are right. If you believe that this 1996 Lincoln cent has the errors you claim it has, send it to a TPG (ANACS is good with error coins) and when it's returned show us what they said.

I haven’t told anyone that they were wrong, and I was right. I’ve asked for explanations as to why certain things were different.

in doing so, I have had several petiole provide extremely helpful references, as well as personal insight.

I’m extremely grateful for all of the assistance and knowledge that has been shared with me thus far, and hope it will continue.

I will not however, have someone question my intelligence, and tell me I’m “seeing things”.

Please understand that me sharing that knowledge was in no way shape, or form, me trying to receive gratification, appreciation, etc.

With that being said, there’s absolutely no “thanks” needed. I did what I did because I believed it to be the right thing for me. You, are most welcome, sir. I appreciate the fact that you appreciate service-members.

I understand it can be frustrating, and I’ve certainly been wrong before, as I’ve clearly been corrected. I appreciate being corrected as well as being educated. But I will not have someone try to correct me in such a belittling manner. That in itself, is unnecessary.

I will be printing off photos today, and trying to measure the distance. After addition reviews of the coin, it is my belief that those stairs may actually be the upper tier of stairs.

if you review the second angle on the far left close enough, you can see the outlines of the risers.

I’m fully aware that this may seem absurd, made-up, or that impossible, but having the coin in front of me, certainly gives me a clear picture.

Again, I appreciate all of the assistance and shared knowledge, but I will not accept being made out to be a fool, especially over coin collecting.

The coin is not double struck. If the mark is raised I'll go with a plating issue. It looks like scratch damage to me. None of the members that have posted in this thread are ignorant. Many have been at this hobby for over 50 years. If you don't trust those opinions, send the coin in to ANACS.

    Plating blister/bubbles

Reread Wexler's explanation on how dies are made and you'll easily see that a DD can't look like your coin (I'm sure you have his site bookmarked and have looked through it at least once).

    http://www.doubleddie.com/58201.html

Also, do a search for double struck errors and study the pics (make sure they are real errors, not somebody asking a question on a forum. It shouldn't be hard to find slabbed examples). As others have said, a double struck coin can't look like your coin.

Remember, there are lots and lots and lots of ways for a coin to be damaged once it leaves the mint. The more you know about the minting process, the easier it will be to find the real ones. Many of the members answering your questions have demonstrated their knowledge of the minting process on this site over the years.

FWIW: I think you're leaving yourself open to criticism by using statements like "It must be...", "tell me this isn't.....", "This has to be..." (your post title). Most of the coins you post "Can't be..." and error and that's obvious to those with experience. Right or wrong, insisting you have something when you don't is a good way to get snarky responses.

It takes some time, but keep studying.

Hi @PennyRich, I don't have as much experience as the seniors on this site, but I'm quite good with Photoshop. So I took your first image and rotated only the Memorial, making sure not to resize it. The Memorial doesn't coincide with the slanted lines. Keep looking though. For me, the thrill is in the hunt.
