A few years back I went to a flea market and saw a coin that was a (face value) $600 coin (the guy was selling it for $630)... It was either the shape of a hexagon or an octagon... can anyone help me find some info on it? I've looked for years and can't find a single thing about it. It was silver and it was huge too with a diameter about the size of a dinner plate maybe an inch thick? It was a proof coin.
It was probably a california fractional or regular gold piece are you sure it was silver thats the only one I can think of.
this maybe https://www.coinworld.com/news/prec...ar-to-pan-pac-50-gold-privately-produced.html there's some 10 oz bullion rounds made to look like the 1915 pan pac commemorative. all I can think of, and $600 is a rip off even if it was being he'd be asking like $60 an ounce for it. even this is only like less than 3" though, it's not a dinner plate, more of a coaster.
That's too pricey. It was probably an overpriced version of this one. This is a five ounce commemorative of the Panama Pacific Gold $50's. I think Apmex sold these for a while. They came in round and octagon bullion pieces. Hope this helps. Z
likely not a u.s. coin then. they stop at $100 denomination. the 1 oz. platinum eagle is $100. U.S. coins so far don't get denominations that exceed $100.
Then not a "coin" Says who? Not trying to be snarky, but seriously, the US Mint never produced a "Coin" with a $600 face value, nor as large as a dinner plate, so it would have been just a silver collectible if anything.
I mean you don't know unless you saw it... I know for a fact that it said flat out "$600" on the "coin" in question
