I researched both dates just to even see if those years had an error listed like that and they both do. I could be wrong completely so I ask everones opinion now. These pennys were just supposed to be what they look like after the cleaning didnt think I'd something or probably not
To affect Lincoln's jacket, the die crash would need to be pretty massive. Stronger clashes will leave the memorial bays on the obverse of the coin and the profile (maybe date) would be obvious on the reverse. I'm not seeing anything in particular here.
So please dont take my words out of context and say I'm claiming that it's a die clash. I did say it maybe nothing or a different issue but something to zoom into more
Just to let you know, a clash and a counter-clash are two different things. I don't see either in your photos.
True but what if it was rotated more or off center die clash the bay would be higher or hell just to throw it out there a mule die clash
I just see shined areas where the '85 D cent has been polished (IMHO). I've been told salt would scratch the surface of your coins and that household vinegar contains a five-percent solution of acetic acid. Both vinegar and salt are potent enough to accelerate the formation of patina on copper, BTW.
That argument can go back and forth on this subject people say yes people say no. So Ima just send it in and see what happens. Worse case scenario they send it back saying it's nothing. Nail polish remover is more potent then that. They're so many articles approving saying yes it doesn't effect the coin to back up my argument. Thats the lighting I believe that's making it looked polished.
