Hello everyone ! I Need to ID this medal , anyone have a clue ? I',m stumped , what else is new . This is the best I have:
Benjamin Franklin?all I see is a chubby person wearing a turtle helmet getting ready for play combat/ the clue
https://coinappraiser.com/coins/1762-benjamin-franklin-l-l-d-medal/ No idea if yours is legit. Looks a bit mushy in the details. You also didn't post the size or weight.
Well, now, that's interesting. It has the general appearance and style of an 18th century piece, so perhaps it is from Franklin's lifetime. Maybe. As to why it is uniface, I do not know.
That thought crossed my mind. But I really don't know. Reminds me of a piece I had about ten years ago, which was also 18th century (1719).
To this day, the French remain in love with Benjamin Franklin. Below is the medal struck at the Paris Mint in honor of BF's birthday.
I just now saw this post, and link. That's interesting. @SensibleSal66's piece is indeed rather mushy looking, which could indicate a cast copy... or it could be the real McCoy, just heavily worn. I am not so quickly inclined to dismiss it as a fake. Again, I really don't know, but it could indeed be legit- just in rough shape?
@lordmarcovan . I must of not stated , but this isn't my Metal . I was merely presented with it to evaluate . If you need more Pictures or have questions just ask and I will mail them an email . I have come to realize that this is an expensive piece in very nice condition and would like to have this one solved .
