Hit up the local jeweler and picked up a few goodies today. Should be fun to search!

He had a pile of Morgan and Peace dollars I almost got, but he decided to hold on to them for now. 20x face for the rest that I got.

I have picked up some of my better gold coins at jewelry and also at jewelry repair shops.

Have to ask for them. He has them in a tray in the back for melt.

This one came from a jewelry store at Valetines time last year. I was looking for earrings for my wife and mentioned to the fellow that I buy classic US coins. He immediately pulled this out from under the counter and I bought it below spot.

This is the deal...... Places like jewelry shops typically won't turn away precious metals and often don't want to melt classic coins. But they are like any other business and can't keep their cash tied up. Always ask!

    scottishmoney Buh bye

Not so much for silver unless it is .999 fine, but with gold they can melt it and use it for jewelry - it is a known fineness that they can alloy back and forth depending on what karat they prefer. I know that for a fact because my wife's wedding ring is made from a $5 I supplied to the jeweler.

I would check out jewelry stores before I set out to plunder pawn shops!
