It's been a while since I added to my collection.
    Here's the latest goodie.
I'm working on a business strike Classic Head half cent set.
The Classic Heads run from 1809 to 1836, but are really divided into two groups:
    - 1809 thru 1811
    - 1825 thru 1836
1831 and 1836 are proof only so I don't have to concern myself with them.
No coins dated 1812 thru 1824.
This coin completes the late date group (9 coins).
The early group with varieties has 6 coins, and are generally more expensive, especially the two 1811's.

A really nice 1828 Kanga, as always your photo skills bring out the best in any coin. Well done. :thumb:

Really nice looking coin and great photo as always. Do you know the story behind the 12 stars? -- seems like a pretty strange error given the significance of the 13 original colonies/states.

Very nice coin kanga! I love the look of those old copper coins!

That's a great coin! The 12 stars is somewhat scarce; a hoard of the 13 stars variety numbering about 1,000 mint state coins known as the "Collins Hoard" is mentioned in Breen.

I haven't found and definitive reason.
No known historical reason for just 12 stars.
All sources I've seen just chalk it up to a Mint error.

    Thanks for the compliments.

I seem to be doing well with photographing copper coins.
I started on my silver and most of the results are okay.
But I've got a Type II silver 3-cent that's giving me fits.
It's one of the few rainbow toned coins I have and I haven't imaged it right yet. More testing to be done.

Congrats on completing the later dates with a nice looking coin.

How are you doing on the earlier dates?

0 for 6 on the earlier Classic Head dates (1809-1811).
And the only half cent I have older than that (a Draped Bust) is in my type set.
