    OK here is my dilemma.

I bought both the silver and the clad 2009 proof sets. I need a set of Lincoln proofs for my album and need to crack a set out. I don't know which set to crack and which set to save intact.

    Your insights would be appreciated.

I always buy two sets of both the proof (silver and clad) along with the mint sets. I've been doing this for 10 years that way I have a complete mint/proof set intact and one set that I use to break up into singles for my singles albums. For dimes, quarters and halves with both clad and silver proofs I have 4 coins per year (P,D, clad S and silver S).

If it were me I'd crack the clad. I collect the S clad proof quarters in a Dansco State/Territories album so more of the set would be used. The Dime and Nickel could go into my circ/proof albums too.

I like to keep the silver set intact...in fact, that's all I ordered. Silver is more reflective than clad and thus shinier and prettier to me.

If you can hold out a little while longer, the mint is issuing a 4pc. lincoln proof set 8/26 and you could keep your proof sets intact. I think they will sell a lot of these and the price will probably be cheaper than the ones selling now from broken sets. IMO.

For me there is no question. I have presently 10 Whitman brand, Lincoln Cent Albums and I always place the Clad coins in there. Why waste money on Silver ones that in an Album it is really difficult to notice anyway. Same with all other denominations. One Silver set just goes into a box. No one ever sees those either so I sometimes wonder why I even order those.

I was just thinking. Why did I mention Lincoln Cents since they don't make Silver ones of those. WOW, am I getting old or what. Might be those Martini's too.

I think I would listen to Pennywise and wait for the separate Lincoln cent proof set.

Does anyone have any idea how much this set will cost? I think I may wait for them.

    Thanks for all the replies!

Does it really matter? Is the case for the Cents form each set different?

If they are the same just crackout the lesser of the two in quality for the album.

For me my both my silver and clad coins go into my albums anyway so I just end up with an extra set of cents and nickels that I can sell on e-bay.
