As I have stated here before, my Wife inherited her Grandfathers coin collection about twenty-five years ago. Amongst the world coins, (he came from Malta just after WWII) he had close to 135 Morgan Silver Dollars. I just received a new close up microscope last week and I was looking through the Morgans for different verities as per VAMWORLD.com. I looked at this 1900O because of the very visible die break through UNITED. I was startled to look at the mint mark to find that the Morgan is a VAM-11A, 1900O over CC. It has a die clash also in the left wing. It is close to X-Fine to A/U in condition and I am not good at grading. Any thoughts on grade?
Nice looking coin! There are a few VAM guys here that can help you out. They should sniff this one out. You should consider what you want to title your threads especially in order to draw in the experts. Something like: 1900 O VAM-11A Grade and Comments. This way folks zero in on the message and what you want right in the title. Then create your narrative in the body of the thread along with your pictures. I'm curious what they will have to say here.
Very nice coin especially since its a 1900 O/CC and its in the top 100!!!i love die cracks on morgans just in case here is an idea of the value of your coin.
Millard The scope is a Cainda USB Digital Microscope. I ordered it from Amazon for about $25. Thanks all for the comments. Kevin Made, Thanks for the suggestion. I am going through all of the Morgans closely. Most have die breaks or clashes. We shall see what pops up under closer looks.
