Located at the “72” in the date, Not sure if this is considered “good doubling”, or another form of worthless doubling. Doesn’t appear flat & shelf like, but don’t know if it could be another deteriorated die double. more learning for me!
What you are seeing is probably damage. It is not doubling. Also, before posting, did you check it agains any references? If not, that should be your number 1 first stop
The known 1972 D DDO is a little different than the more common doubled dies you'll be looking for or finding (Class VIII). Have a look - Brian's Variety Coins - 1972 Nickel Doubled Die Listings
Look at the field.. Does it look smooth or do you see Striations?.. I see Striations. That's caused by a worn die which causes Die Deterioration doubling. Not a true Doubled Die variety IMHO
