I was separating memorial cents from shield cents out of a coinroll. When I first saw this I thought that there was some crud on the coin. I wiped at it with my thumb and then scoped it. This is some of what I saw. I'm not sure what error this is.
I have never seen this before but I believe its from an extremely worn die the ring ridge is visible not sure if its a true error or damaged.
Is it raised or lower? Does it peel off? What color is the coin? What color is the coin under what you are asking about? Welcome to CT.
It didn't wash off. I was convinced it was missing a layer, but after reading so many "adhesive, glue, gluhesive" comments, I took a knife to it and it flaked right off. I feel so foolish. I am thankful that I convinced otherwise. Thank you for the welcome.
