I just bought 5oz. of Silver Bullion in the form of 5 Silver American Eagles. Each coin is a 1998 and is graded MS67 WHITE by PCI. For $300, Did I get a good deal or a bad deal? Photos below: Please cast your vote in the poll now!
I'm not into the eagles other than as bullion. Silver is less than $14/oz so you got $70 worth of silver for $300.
Paul....did the coins tone in the holders since they all say 100% white. The 4th & 5th are my favorites!! The only question is, Do you think you got a good deal? That's all that matters.
Jaime, This whole thread is a joke. I know the value of these coins. I just wanted to see what the other members of the forum think. Hoping to have some fun.
70 for the bullion, 5 for the holders, 50 for the expert opinion on the grade (and the higher possibility of resale further down the road), but that toning is priceless. I would not of paid that, but that does not make your deal good or bad. There are a lot more people today that appreciate toned coins than ever before.
I was just about to say that you even though PCI isn't as bad as some say, that you still got taken. BUT. I than saw the pics. Nice coins. I like how some slabs say 100% white. They must have turned in the slab.
That is the whole point. When the coins were graded, they were 100% white. The insert of the holder is what caused the toning. This is a rare case where you can state with a high degree of certainty that the toning on an ASE is NT.
Depending on the quality of the toning: between $75-$100 at auction. I bought them at as a lot of 5. If sold individually, my guess is they would sell for about $75 each. The one with the milk spots might go for less.
As a reference, I would like to post an ASE that is for sale by the same seller I bought these coins from. Keep in mind that this is one coin graded MS66 by PCGS. Now look at the price tag. http://cgi.ebay.com/1992-PCGS-MS66-Gem-Rainbow-Toned-American-Silver-Eagle_W0QQitemZ360156932083QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCoins_Bullion?hash=item53db06a7f3&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14 I might just sell one just to prove a point.
