Excessive damage aside, there seems to be quite a few areas of interest which makes me think a “POSSIBLE” DDO/DDR. Hopefully my photography, and clearly identifying the questionable areas has risen to a level of acceptance. Thank you all.
Just a very damaged nickel that gives that appearance. I'd keep it due to the toning colors. They are pretty.
Your specimen was struck in a latter die stage and there is plenty of damage on that coin. When you notice the outer devices are narrower at the top of the lettering and thicker at the bottom, the die has aged and nearing the end of useful life. And through die attrition, inner details become mushy and distorted...material flow becomes more obvious. A quick check of Variety Vista indicates no DDOs or DDRs for the date.
