    nice notes!

The Noost .. the odds of finding somethign like that .. well, when you think that most BEP packs of stars are bought by dealers long before they hit the streets .. all you have to do is hold onto a pack and wait for the next series.

In this case, I think the BEP may have done the work itself. I remember the BEP was offering some kind of set like this out of the stars it had left over after the $5 redesign...I forget the details, but I'm guessing this is one of those.

You are using descriptor "GEM" too freely. The lower grade that gets this descriptor is "Gem New 65" but your note doesn't sutisfy this requirement: "The centering should be well above average, although minor imperfections in the centering are permissible if the margins are broad." See http://www.pcgscurrency.com/g_scale.html

well then i will be the first one to say excuse me for my free use of the word "GEM". even though i am using the urbanchemist method not the suggested PCGS method. after holding thousands of GEM notes graded or raw in my hand i have seen much worse get the GEM desigination. only the chicago note doesnt have good centering anyways. so thank you for looking at my GEM notes hope you enjoy my future posts.

You trashed PCGS grading standards and English punctuation in one post - I guess that's why you call yourself "US/WORLD CURRENCY JUNKIE".

Seriously, the fact that somebody did lousy job grading some notes doesn’t give you free ticket to do the same. There are many people here look up to you – there is no reason to misguide them.

You may want to proof read your posts before picking on others for grammatical errors.:kewl:

    100% Agree!!

I like to think that everyone needs to grade for themselves. If i call one of my notes a higher grade then someone else thinks its is, just remember ... ALL grading is 100% SUBJECTIVE!!!!!

I didn't do such a thing! Are you implying that punctuation is a part of grammar?

There are things that you shouldn't argue with. How can you or anybody else here argue that the note in question is well centered? Next, when you come to your sences and agree that it is not well centered (frankly speaking, I do not think you will come that far), how could you still claim it deserves "GEM" designation? There is nothing subjective about it. It wasn't you who invented the 70 point scale or definition of "GEM" designation, was you? These words have specific meaning when it comes to numismatics.

urbanchemist, what was you point to post 2 certified 67 notes later? These are well centered. You would make your point better if they would be centered like the note in question is. In this case you could say that the note in question is similar to the certified 67, so it deserves "gem" designation as well. But they are not similar, are they? The point was be fed by "great note!" replies, wasn't it?

i was never claiming that if those notes went for grading that they would get GEM desigination. i just called them GEM because of the fact they were nice and crisp, sharp corners and all around nice notes. i was using GEM as a general term and not as an absolute grade. yes the chicago note is well off center. the atlanta note has centering very close to the 2 other GEM's that i posted. my whole point is whats the big deal if i call the notes GEM or not. i am not misleading anyone. grading is very subjective. i am not selling these notes as GEM. but once again you are the only one who seems to be bothered by my use of the term GEM. am i going to have to worry about all my posts of my notes being scrutinized by you that i didnt put the true grade and mislead someone??:crying::crying::crying:
