1971 S 1c MD?

    The date looks like machine doubling. LIBERTY looks like die deterioration doubling. IGWT looks like a DDO. I'm not sure about the reverse.

    Those mint marks were put on after the dies were made. When those are doubled too it’s a giveaway the strike caused it.

    I've learned over the years, what kind of doubling is known for the year in question .

    Studied the die characteristics and know what to look for..

    Once you learn that, the rest is easy .

    I keep forgetting that detail on mm and thanks everyone for the help. I am confused about pic from site answer though. So it is an RPM?

    No, it’s strike doubling, just like on the rest of the coin, not off-set punches of the mint mark.
