Is this considered a Bag Mark?

Got this free medal from the ANA. While I was handling it, a spot that glimmers keeps catching my eye. Her right shoulder has an incused spot that catches and reflects the light at certain angles.

At first, I thought it was a die chip. But the circular area is incused. A die chip would cause that spot to be raised, no? So is this a result of a hit? Curious and would like to know. Thanks all!

I wouldn't call it a bag mark, It is that the spot is missing the frost on the devices. Something may have been on the die when it was struck.

Would it then be considered a "Strike Through?" Under magnification, I can see the side edges of that "circle."

    Smallpox vaccination scar? :D

Something amiss in the frosting process is a good idea, but doesn't explain why it's incused. I can't tell much from the picture. It looks more like a Proof than "Brilliant Uncirculated", though...(imo).

Admittedly, I've never heard of this. Something to read up on this weekend! Thanks.

I took the laser part out because I don't know how this medal was made. Here's some info on one of the Mint's laser frosting errors...

No not a strike thru. It is hard to say what happened except that the frost is missing.

I started to check the internet and - lo and behold - came across an old thread from you from September of 2011 about laser frosting! LOL.

The BU is a generic grade they put on it meaning over a 65 since they didn't actually grade them. It's a cheaper way of grading and since I'm assuming they had to do those for free for the ANA they probably just put everyone of them into one of those slabs and didn't waste any of their graders time with them
