She is the 4th oldest US coin in our collection with one of the lowest mintages at 1.1 million. This is also the first coin from the New Orleans mint. The price was also right, at $11! Now we just need a CC to have all the mints...since we will never own a Charlotte or Dahlonega.
Actually, I think she is a beauty. I much prefer to see coins that were part of the commerce of the time, rather than those that just sat around in a box doing nothing. Those glorious worn ones at least have a story behind them even if we would only be guessing what it was.

I agree as well. Coins that spent time in someone's pocket and hold a story that we may never know but can only imagine are way more interesting to me.
I like coins that look like they worked for a living. It's the "eye appeal factor". That one is a beauty in my eyes also.
I agree with the above posts. This coin was a deal at $11. I enjoy collecting coins that have been handled through the years. Think of all the hands this little coin has passed through.
Very nice and nostalgic. I have one in my hand-me-down collection. I remember thinking why they stopped calling it "Half Dimes." Maybe when they added "CENTS" to the V-Nickel, people started calling it 5 cents.
I like circ and UNC. It can vary widely. I might see a UNC and a circ right beside it for for not much less and the circ will lure me. It's hard not to wonder what that coin has seen and heard. Great coin btw... I like it as well and 11 bux is sweet!
Shield nickels have CENTS on them as well. They called it a half dime because it was a silver coin (like the dime) that was half the value of a dime.
