I don't see why there should be any question here. You offer a 7 day return privilege for the buyers money back. He is returning the coin within the seven days so you honor your return privilege. And what is all this about blocking him? Because he is taking advantage of an offered return privilege?? No he doesn't. Go to the auction and look at that return privilege again. It says that the SELLER is responsible for the return postage. (I would strongly advise removing that in the future.)
I would have refunded him, though, he would have to pay the return shipping. Can't add the restock fee since it wasnt in your ad. As some have said, I would remove the return policy, and I would have said in the ad that there are rim dings. I don't sell on eBay often, and when I do I am very clear - NO REFUNDS. I post pictures, give a good description listing any damage I can see and will take more if they want them, but, NO REFUNDS. While as a buyer I want a return policy, I don't trust people... I have heard too much about people returning a lesser quality coin(s). On a related note - I noticed he didn't mention them in his ad
Sorry, but I do not think there is a way not to have a no refund policy any more. eBay now requires electronic payments be accepted. Everyone of them has its own return/refund policy most especially PayPal. BTW, PayPal also eliminates the restocking fee and refunds your shipping, but not your return shipping. So long as you file through PayPal, that is what will happen. So far as i can figure, buyer or seller has no say in the matter.
I agree. If the situation was reversed and someone here was trying to return a coin within the return guidelines, and the seller was resisting, we'd all be blasting the seller here. The buyer doesn't owe and explanation, and the seller should honor the promise without question and without hesitation.
I believe RLM is correct. If you take PayPal, you will take returns if you like it or not. Essentially, and as I understand things, all the buyer has to fill out is a "SNAD" form (significantly not as described), and PayPal will refund the return provided the buyer followed their policy. Although on their website they say they are independent, from what I gather (not having done it myself) that PayPal basically almost always sides with the buyer.
Thank you all for letting me vent. I was planning on refunding the money anyways. I just got frustrated.
I would also ask him/her why he/she didn't tell about the rim nicks on their auction, and posted pic's that were even farther away?....sounds odd... Speedy
Because he is within the 7 day return window, I feel you need to adhere to your return policy. Sorry, I just don't think that submitting his feedback stops the ' 7-day clock' right then and there. Block him from any further bidding action and stop any further potential hassels.
yes, accept return The ebay listing shows a 7 day return policy for money back. No conditions are stated for exercising this privilege. So, yes, accept the returned coin for money back. You may need to change your return policy. If you do, you may get less bids, however. Easier to accept the return than to get hammered with bad reputation on ebay.
