Hello! Today I bring you a grocery store change find! I noticed immediately that it was different, and when I got it under good lighting, I noticed this anomaly in the collar! The coin is noticeably thicker that normal, the collar is pretty weak, and there is a zig zagged point where the collar ends! Weight is normal, the obverse (left hand side in particular) almost looks like a minor broadstrike (even though the diameter appears unaffected. Prob just off-center), and the details on the right hand side are a bit mushy (Sorry for the magnification Paddy!). I would do it under a phone camera, but that doesn't like zooming this far in. Any ideas what it is? (Thinking maybe a misaligned die of some sort?) Weird edge side of coin Normal edge side of coin (Full photos coming in a second)
not sure, most likely isn't but a photo of the coin in a mirror so we can see both sides would be helpful.
It might be a very very minor MAD, but that has nothing to do with the damaged reeding. MAD - Mis-Aligned Die
Where is the abnormal reeding in relation to the obverse of the coin? Is it above the crown of FDR's head?
Yeah, sorry I should have been more clear. In the mirror you should be able to see both sides at the same time. There is a degree of rotation that is considered mint acceptable.
