I would agree with the lower end of GD's Range. VF. Can you get a close up pic of the reverse, isolating "States" ?

    Atta boy!

    VF? Wow. Just wow.

    FWIW, I'd guess AU.

How's the luster in-hand? Can't really tell from the scans the OP provided.

Looks like an easy XF 40.....might go 45.

I would say low AU or high XF depending on which side of the bed the grader got up on.

I'd guess AU55 or AU58. What does a 1998 Wide AM sell for in AU?

    Very best regards,

I would say XF, nice find! I'm still loking for my first WAM, no luck so far.

I would go XF40 - 45. Where I use to go more by wear on the cheek and jaw at this stage; these newer cents seem to have the wear more in the hair first. I don't recall when this started to be the case.

Wear on virtually the entire coin and you say AU ?

    I agree - WOW !

    You wanna bet?

If that coin grades VF at a TPG, I will pay you $500. The coin grades AU, you pay me $500. If it grades XF (edited to add: or no grade), we push. I'll even pay for grading and shipping.

    Deal?

Pretty hefty betting on a photo without having the coin in-hand.

    I like it!

thanks for trying, but thats not accomplishing the purpose. The First S in States looks perhaps Double struck. Maybe my eye medication is screwing me today.
