Thanks! I just buffed it lightly with some felt to get some of the oils off and put it in a case! On closer inspection of the coin, with everything I've learned it is most definitely real! There is a strong Blakesley effect, but the angle I shot the pictures at kind of minimizes the appearance. Thanks everyone for all your help in identifying, authenticating, and pricing my coin! Most of all, thanks for educating me! I've got a new hobby that has me searching through all my pocket change, but I couldn't help it if I tried at this point.

Personally at this point, I wouldn't touch the coin. Great find!! Just keep it in a safe place. good luck with making a mint off of a mint error.

I wonder if there is some way to fake clip coins? I'm sure there's some dishonest person out there looking to make a cheap buck who knows how

    Isn't this a 'Blakesley effect'? smallIMG_4827.jpg

Oops, I remembered wrong. They used to be manually carted and then dumped into to the edge lettering machine, not manually fed one-by-one. This has since been upgraded to where they are automatically fed into the edge letting machine after being struck. Thanks for correcting me.
