Is there a shadow of a "Liberty" beneath the other one? or is that just the camera doing that (look at last pic)?

Yes it is a reflection, I had hold the coin at an angle to show the spots in the picture.

The Lincoln is Bronze.....95% copper, not the Zinc/Copper Clad coin.

Hopefully mine will arrive tomorrow...more than likely Monday. The sets that I ordered after my subscription have been sent out . Due to arrive sometime next week. I'll let you folks know how those turn out as well...:)

    Okay Tony the Tiger :p

I really hope my silver proof set ends up better than my clad proof set. The Lincolns and Jefferson were really bad. I ended up buying a set of certified 2009 Lincolns, just so I could have some quality examples of them. Kind of sad really. I don't really like buying certified coins all that often (at least with modern coins). I probably should have just waited to see what happens with this set. :desk:

Hopefully everybody gets a nice set though. :)

Hey Jerms, sorry you had bad coins in your clad mint proof set. I've read on CT about the mint sets that members recieved and they had to return them. Doesn't give a good feeling at all. Did you return your set? Are you satisfied with the certified Lincolns that you bought? If you are then you can say ' GRRrrreat' too. zeke the tiger, lol!:D

My first post!! Love this forum and have been lurking for a few months.

I received a 2009 clad proof set and a silver set today. Has to send them both back due a spot on one of the silver proof set Lincolns. Also, the clad set had a Lincoln that had spots all over it. The spotting was a dark copper color. Strange? Maybe 24 of them on the coin.

Sent both sets back today and am hoping for a set that is not flawed. This is the first sets I have sent back in 15 years of mint purchases.

No spotting problems with me. My subscription order arrived today and I'm quite satisfied with what I received.

One more order slated to arrive sometime next week. I'll let you all know how that one turns out...;)

Hi folks , been checking out your forum for awhile & decided to join. I'am also waiting for my 2009 silver proof set. Ordered the first day within first 5 min. , my order shipped Fri. but living on the West Coast will not be here til late next week. Sorry to here about the spotting on the cent coins, I just hope that this will not be like the Bald Eagle set that I had to return twice & finally cancelled because of dirty coins, finally had to go to the secondary market on them.

Hi green18 , nice to meet you, can't wait to get my silver proof set, I also ordered the Lincoln cent coins, interesting because I ordered both sets at the same time & the mint mailed out the silver proofs first and then mailed out the Lincoln cent coins a day later, sometimes the mint is a little strange in their shipping.

Strange indeed...at times. At least they didn't charge you extra shipping....:smile

To be honest, I didn't feel like going through the hassle of returning the proof set to the mint. Then they'll probably send me another set with different coins being bad, and I don't feel like paying shipping and continue gambling with the mint.

The certified set I got, well, They're.....GRreeeeeat! They're a set of PF69 Ultra Cameo Lincolns graded by NGC (I don't need no real fancy PF70 coins that hardly have any differences). No smudges, spots, or anything. It seems like an unnecessary cost for the set (and it probably was), but I was just so frustrated with the U.S. Mint at the time, that it just felt right to go elsewhere for a replacement of those coins.

The mint is a little strange in more ways than one. :p
