Visited the coin store a couple of weeks ago and the dealer was telling me about the 1879 nickel they got in. He wanted to show it to me - they looked high and low, but could not find it. The owner figured one of the others must have sold it. I was truly disappointed. Today I walked in - searched the special boxes, the large cents(couple of nice ones, nothing special), liberty nickels and shields nickels - nothing perked my interest. The owner was in the back looking through stuff and finally walked out an laid a coin in front me. He told me he stuck it back for me to see(and forgot where last time) - found it after I left. He figured I would want to check it out. Needless to say it has found a home. Now only one more business strike(1880) to go and a 1877 proof. As always all comments go and bad are welcome. Grades - PCGS Genuine, NGC - BB, NCS - AU Details, ANACS -MS Details net AU, Mark - AU Details and worth every penny I spend. I think old cleaning, but retoning.
Very nice. I appreciate hearing your story about how you acquired this coin in your near complete collection as it really imparts meaning and the lengths we travel in finding the right coins.
LOL - at least the buyer was.... PS - Thanks for the comments. Now to just wait for the other two to show up.
