No, trust me sir I believe you, its just that it has a look of a chinese fake just by the weird, poor placement of those letters. Given your demonstrated knowledge of these here, maybe only David Bowers I would listen to before you, (honestly, I have no idea what level of knowledge has of large cents Mr. Bowers has, just saying).

An odd aside..... The website has changed their name. They are now Cointomi.com. Beware. It is the same crowd.

I agree. The sheer magnitude of an effort to stamp out cheap forgeries and counterfeits would be tremendous. Imagine the impact that doubling the percentage of customs inspections would have on our economy. I do not doubt China and other countries support any manner of undermining the free world and the increased costs associated of affected nations. Efforts exist to shut down these types of operations, but much harsher penalties are an absolute must.

I guess I might end up buying fakes. In that first picture the coin on the left looks better to me. I even began to worry that I didn't have know right from left. I didn't even see what others were seeing in some cases. I guess I'll have to get more experience or better eyes!

In each of the photos, the coin on the left is the authentic coin.

Thank you for posting this link. I have long said that there should be a database of known fakes and here it is. Thanks again.

I see it now. The folds on the dress should be sharper on the 2020 coin than the older coin.

Something I do that some forget, when I am looking at a collection of coins, especially Morgans and Peace (as well as others) I carry a magnet.

I think you got taken Randy. I paid $1.99 for my Chinese fake ASE. LOL The numerals used for the date were an instant give-away.

I looked for my post, but can't remember what I posted as, but I bought a Mexican Libertad coin a few years ago and when I got it home, it JUMPED to a magnet. I called the dealer and he said to bring it back. Before I took it back, I posted it on here and several members complemented the look! I quickly revealed it was a fake and members soon pointed out discrepancies. Some fakes ARE good looking.

It is stone cold obvious when compared side by side. That was why I wanted to show them that way.
