If you live near north central Indiana the Lafayette Indiana club sponsored coin show is this Saturday at the River City Community center. The address 2842 Old US 231 S. We have 20 dealers and 45 tables so there will be something for everyone. Open from 9 am to 3 pm.
I always wish I could meet up with fellow Hoosiers to discuss the coins we collect and hobby topics, but Lafayette is just a bit too much of a drive for a show. Hope it does well tought!
Had fun at the coin show today, the facility is spacious with room to grow. The dealers had just about anything you could possibly want to buy. Lots of money exchanging hands and silver seems to still be in high demand. I mainly buy large cents and I splurged today. One of my favorite dealers had just bought a book of them and he let me have first chance to purchase. I picked up 11 of them dated 1794 to 1821. Most are draped busts which are my favorites. The attendance was slow but steady and everyone was polite and respectful. I am thankful that here in Indiana we have this show twice a year and the monthly 71st show in Indy. Both shows have large areas that allows you to browse without being on top of each other. I feel this was another successful show and I hope the dealers made enough money to return this fall.
Has the Lafayette club returned to monthly meetings? And is the Indy 71st St show actually being held? I haven't been able to confirm these things. I suspected the Indy show might have been restored but Lafayette was to far for me to get any first hand information.
Here is the remaining coin show scheduled for 2021 for the 71st street and the Lafayette shows. Be sure to confirm that the show(s) are on before heading out.
