And today we go to Mars....landing in an hour and twenty minutes (roughly)

    https://mars.nasa.gov/mars2020/timeline/landing/watch-online/

Gordian III AR Antoninianus. 243-44 AD. 23mm 4.4 grams

IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right / MARTEM PROPVGNATOREM, Mars walking right holding spear and shield.

Interesting use of the Accusative Case...

The accusative case in Latin communicates a number of things in relation to the verb of a sentence. It can be the direct object, which receives the action of the verb directly. It can communicate the place to which a person is moving, the duration of time it takes or simply be the object of some special prepositions...

It might look like a coin but it's actually a (MID) Martian Identity Disk.

Yay! This is one of the few occasions where my little country is involved in space travel. There is some Norwegian tech in the rover, and the helicopter is being controlled by a Norwegian. I’m glad we’re finally able to contribute to space exploration.

It always blows me away how, except for the Flat Earthers, everyone accepts how we've landed rovers on Mars including using a Sky Crane, yet 1 in 10 Americans don't believe we landed Men on the Moon 50 years ago. FWIW, technically it is MUCH more difficult to do what has just been accomplished than landing men on the Moon.

CONGRATULATIONS to all the people who made the Perseverance mission possible!!!

The coin is just a heavily circulated Barber quarter that I used for scale. The rock beside it is a 34 gram piece of Martian meteorite. It's fun to hold it and look at Mars at night.
