A LOT of people especially if the autograph is relevant

They sell PCGS and NGC coins on their site some of which are for brand new products which shows they submitted them before sale

They do actually "grade" their historic raw offerings as well, but most if not all of those have been getting graded by PCGS/NGC in the last couple years

If the mint is going to go the submitting route which they eventually will, then they just need to do it and price the products by grade. The only people that would do no returns style grab bag purchases are big dealers who would have no interest in them as it takes their profit away

The TPG's would still get pain because they would slab the coins with "special" labels that indicated "from the red set" or "from the gold set" etc. They already do this with coins from "special" sets. The collectors don't care that the coin is identical to one from a different set, but they pay more because the slab label says it came from the special set. They would do the same for coins from the "red" or "gold" sets.

So the coins will still get slabbed, the TPG's get paid, and the mint packaging discarded.

While some don't care (and thats fine) some do actually care. There wouldn't be a price difference if "collectors dont care"

Yeah. I never got that 3rd nickel they promised us in the uncirculated set. I bet a choice few got those

What about those emergency dollar coins that were minted at another mint. You had to send in a whole unopened case to get that designation. Who care. But some real crazy gimmick collectors think there special. Makes me laugh

Just because you don't like something doesn't make collectors that do gimmick collectors

I don't think anyone got the 2020 W nickel from the uncirculated set, I think they flat out cancelled it.

HOWEVER if it ever turns up out there, I will be triggered. LOL

The mint put something in their web page that the rest of the nickels are cancelled.
